About
ACER (Canary Island, Spain), founded in 2010, is an NGO, representing renewable producers and developers across Europe, with a strong presence in the Canary Islands. It acts as a unified voice for the sector and defends members' interests, giving it a direct channel to regional and national decision-makers. Recent activity includes high-level engagement with Spain's Ministry for Ecological Transition and leadership presence in regional renewable forums, evidencing access to policymakers and convening power.
The Canary Islands Renewable Energy Association represents the interests of its members through collaboration with the media, annual events, participation in national and international renewable energy events, political lobbying, and cooperation with relevant regional and national associations. It currently has 42 active members, representing approximately 138 MW of photovoltaic energy, 574 MW of wind energy, as well as bioenergy and geothermal energy.
Role in the project
ACER plays a central role in the coordination and strategic direction of the project, particularly through its involvement in the core governance and technical work packages. It contributes to the structuring and operation of the Ocean Energy Forum, supports the development of key evidence outputs, and ensures alignment with EU policy frameworks. ACER also brings strong sectoral expertise and networks, helping to connect industry, research, and public authorities and to guide the overall direction of the project's technical work.
